Big gorillas and hi-def video

I see that Micro$oft is planning to bundle King Kong with their Xbox360 HD-DVD player (not that I have the slightest bit of interest in what M$ does). I doubt I'm the only person to see the irony of a 700 lb gorilla of a software monopolist bundling a movie about another big gorilla with one of its products... :-)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: M$'s backing of is a damned fine reason to reject that format, and adopt instead.

I disagree. I have no axe to grind with Sony, and apart from their stupid mistake recently of including software on CDs that fscked up Windoze machines, I don't they've done anything too shady. Compare that with M$, who have repeatedly abused their desktop monopoly. Fortunately, I don't use their software, so I don't have to worry about their stuff.

From a technical perspective, Blu-ray is superior, so leaving aside company politics, people intersted in hi-def video should back it. Blu-ray also has more industry support than HD-DVD, meaning that Joe Consumer will have more content to choose from.
